JLab Hall-D Meeting Sept. 15,2004 Attendees: Elton S., Elliott W., Dave D., Ed B., Craig B., George L., Simon T., David L. Agenda: 1. Comments on the collaobration meeting. 2. List of tasks which need to be completed by the review: -------------------------------------------------------------- A. Paul Smith wants to have minutes of electronics discussions at JLab weekly meetings. David L. will take notes on JLab meetings and post them. B. Lab management wants hall leaders to develop "science matrix". C. Discussion of items for detector review: 1. FDC - need plan to extract data into space points. Geant can be used to get resolution of individual hits. HDFast must be used for momentum resolution studies. We need to be prepared to explain why we use cathode strips rather than wires. 2. Solenoid - First two coils have been "buttoned up" and set aside. work can begin on second two as soon as they get money. 3. Target - Elton will work with Mike Seeley. 4. DAQ - 5. Trigger - Option should be added to add backward veto to trigger. This can "tag" events as having hits in UPV. This may only be used for offline, but since it can be obtained in time for level-1, we should have it available. It's unclear what class of events the UPV is supposed to operate on. Dave will contact Paul E. 6. Infrastructure - Fringe fields. Detector positions. Need consistent numbers for review. 7. Electronics - Paul S. suggested at collaboration meeting that the pipelining has not been fully thought through. Dave D. thought the pipling was in good shape but feature extraction was not yet developed but will be with a full prototype. 8. Detector review schedule. Should we have a DAQ and a Electronics talk (i.e. two talks.)? The original schedule had a single talk, but the collaboration meeting said we should have two talks. The schedule will have two shorter talks on DAQ and on Electronics. 9. Several issues with DAQ/Electronics from Paul S. D. Ravi showed some plots of a target design and how it might fit with a start counter. The design was basically the Hall-B design with modifications.
