Hall-D Software Meeting Nov. 9, 2004 Attendees: Paul E., Richard J., Ed B., David L. , Grep R., Simon T., Ryan M., Elliott W. Agenda: ------- 1. Brief report on SC2004 Zisis P. 2. Ridin' around with the top down David L. 3. Gaudi/CMT/Pakman Ed B. 1. Zisis gave a brief report on the Super Computing 2004 conference in Pittsburg he attended last week. The main ideas he walked away with were: -Virtual Data -GRID is not yet a turn-key system -GRID and Web services are converging toward WSRS He will give a more detailed report next week. 2. Dave gave a presentation on how a "top-down" design naturally leads to "pull-style" analysis framework. (See his slides at: http://www.jlab.org/~davidl/HallD). The DANA framework (written by Dave for Hall-D) was presented. The framework is the same as was presented before except it has been extended to use data factories which implement the pull-style framework. 3. Ed has been looking into the GAUDI framework a little. Before getting too deep into GAUDI itself, he started looking at the CMT package manager with GAUDI uses. He was actually drawn to a more advanced project called Pacman. The software can help with release management including both internal and external libraries. Ed will continue looking into GAUDI and will report on it at a later meeting.
