DMagneticFieldStepper (David L.) 4. Updates from all tasks on the task list (All) 1. Simon updated us on his work behind the document he recently uploaded to the DocDB. There still are porblems with HDFast where the momentum resolutions don't make sense when both multiple scattering and detector position resolution are "turned on" compared to what one would expect from when each was turned on individually. Simon has been in communication with the authors of MCFast and will continue to pursue that. Ed and his student had done a related investigation but saw a dependance on resolution on how many particles are thrown per event. Simon has done tests throwing 9 particles per event. He will try repeating his measurement with 1 particle per event to see if he can confirm this effect. 2. The JLab DAQ group has produced a new software package called cMsg which implements publish-subscribe network communication between processes. He invited everyone to think of applications where this might be useful so it could be tested. 3. Dave described the new DMagneticFieldStepper class which uses the DMagneticFieldMap class to step through an inhomogeneous magnetic field. Richard pointed out that the current implementation of DMagneticFieldMap reflects elements of the uderlying source (dsolenoid.table). He suggested we work to make the class completely abstract. 4.
