GlueX Software Meeting March 1st, 2005 Attending: David L. Elliott W Simon T. Zisis P Rafael H. Richad J Paul E. Mac M. Mark I. Elton S. Agenda: 1. Track Finding (David) 2. BCAL Simulation (Rafael) 3. Status Reports (All) 4. Meeting regularity (All) -------------------------------------- 1. Dave presented some recent work he's done on track finding using CDC and FDC data from HDGeant. The slides from the talk can be found at: http://www.jlab.org/~davidl/HallD/Presentations/2005_03_01_2Dtrack_finding A Hough transfom was described which allows one to identify tracks by filling a 2-dimensional density plot and looking for peaks. The work up to now is able to sort hits into tracks using only X/Y information from the HDGeant cheat codes. The plots shown focused only on how well hits were grouped relative to then known groupings (via cheat codes). For the future, the z-coordinate will be incorporated to further sort the tracks. Also, some suggestions were made on how the algorithim might be improved and/or sped up. This is an ongoing project. 2. Rafael showed some plots from his ongoing work on detailed BCAL simulations using custom Geant3-based code. So far, the study indicates that about 6% of the energy is deposited in the scintillating fibers with negligible variation with incident photon energy. Rafaels slides can be found at: http://www.phys.uregina.ca/~rafael/BCal/ 3. Postponed until next week. 4. Postponed until next week.
