  4. Software/Calibration for CPP (David, Alex and Sean)
    • cpp_recon_oct21 branch with clustering algorithm (Alex)
    • Alex showed output of hd_dump from EEL test data. Code is in a branch.
    • Currently have a primitive algorithm to group adjacent wires into "clusters"
    • Hit object: needs an "x" position and orientation (vertical or horizontal). Note that distance between wires is 0.4" (not 1 cm)
    • Cluster object: add number of wires included into cluster.
    • Elton: Should there be hooks included to rotate chambers relative to "nominal". After discussion, it seemed that individual chambers might be able to be rotated in the x-y plane without adjusting individual wires. This would be specified in the <xml> file. Simon will check.
  5. AI for Experimental Controls testing during CPP (Dave)
    • David has extracted relevant code from Andrew's plugin to produce a simpler output. The code will be more self-contained and in one location. David will work on this this week.
    • Concern that a number of hits for pions is less than for muons (on average) in the simulation.
    • Rory: This may be what is expected for the configuration we have because of the absorption of pions. So the simulation may be ok, but we want to scrutinize it before spending much effort on the AI to separate pions and muons
    • Dave: Also need more realistic simulations of pion and muon pairs. Andrew will check with Albert about supplying realistic configurations.
  6. MWPC Testing
    • FMWPC Log Book
    • Denethor seems to operate well with a baseline threshold=0 in the retest data. (Elton will post data shortly)
    • Ilya has taken more data with Arwen, but it looks like the chamber information is missing. Elton will be in the lab in the afternoon and will check.
    • Rory: The HV GUI does not update voltage/current measurements. We need to use the "Powermeter" pull-down menu.
  7. Slow Controls (Beni)
    • CPP-NPP Experimental Controls
    • Beni presented our requirements to the Controls Group
    • We still need to determine specifically what voltage (LV and HV) channels are used for the MWPC. But the systems are already in use, so extension to our experiment should be straightforward
    • Elton: Do we need a temperature measurement in the electronics enclosure? Rory: We should check the operating temperature in the EEL and decide if any measurements and or precautions need to be taken, such as flowing dry N2 through the enclosures.

    • CPP Scintillators (Simon)
    • Simon has implemented two pairs of scintillators (two on each side of the beamline) into the simulation.
    • He has completed the implementation of generation -> simulation -> reconstruction into multiple branches of the code (different repositories). These should turn into pull requests soon.
