Attendees: Elton, Beni (JLab); Shaun, Giovanni Alcocer (new graduate student), Zisis, Andrei (UofR); Matt (IU); Athens tried to connect; Will without audio (USM);
- Announcements
- New graduate student at Regina, Giovanni Alcocer, will be working on reconstruction effort and then analysis. Learning C++ and ROOT
- October Collaboration Meeting
- May not need the third slot, offer it to Curtis.
- Action Items
- Monitoring
- Plexiglass sheets are in.
- Documentation is being collected (primarily from Athens) for the sanding and painting. John hopes to start mounting next week.
- NIM paper (Zisis) has been submitted. Preliminary communications with editors are taking place.
- FCAL
- Cabling complete!
- The cabling is very nice and neat. Will ease access during maintenance. Provide an example to the rest of the detectors.
- BCAL
- Reassembly of modules used in ESB during tests
- The modules (#1's), which were used for testing modules in the ESB were opened and refurbished for use the the actual detector.
- Traces of liquid were found inside the module on the silicon pad used for extracting heat off the electronics board.
- Initial thoughts were that this was condensation, but closer inspection showed the liquid was somewhat oily. It could be anti-freeze from the cooling system.
- Traces of the liquid were taken from the silicon pad and EH&S has sent them out for evaluation. The amount of liquid might not be sufficient for evaluation. No report yet.
- We want to make sure the system is kept under nitrogen flow.
- Moved BCAL into solenoid!
- Photos Downstream View, Upstream View, Closeup Upstream View
- Removed readout assemblies from both sides of six modules (33-37 and 41) for inspection
- All electronics dry. No visible damage
- Assemblies on the rail pads very tight. Need to remove inside plate on some in order to take them off. This should be standard procedure.
- Downstream no visible anomalies.
- Upstream, boundary between module 41 and 40 showed a thicker dark band at interface (about 1-2 fibers instead of 0.5-1), but did not appear to be due to insertion of the module. Seems consistent with Regina archival photo End 2 Image.
- Conclude: no damage found due to insertion of the BCAL into the solenoid.
- Cosmics Analysis | Shaun K.
- Fits using two Gaussians. "Mean" parameter indicates the place where the two Gaussians are joined (it is not the mean of the distribution).
- Elton: Expectations are based on beam test data, so they probably effectively include the acceptance for the light guides of the inner layer
- Many of the runs with insufficient events has been traced to the use of root files that did not contain the full data set. These will be rerun.
- Reassembly of modules used in ESB during tests
- Reconstruction and Simulation: BCAL Reconstruction Meeting 2013-09-17
- Giovanni has joined the effort. George has been stalled due to the closure of universities. Will has investigated the reason for slow daily reconstruction of clusters and implemented a fix. He will give a talk at the collaboration meeting.
- TDR update
- Calibration of Calorimeters
- Any other business
