Below are some general steps describing the trigger commissioning with the photon beam.
Phase 1: Photon-beam Commissioning
- PS stand alone trigger (2 - 3 days) (Done)
- - trigger with PSC
- - read out PS and PSC
- - trigger distribution through GTP. Use PSC self trigger if problems with GTP
Phase 2: Photon Beam in the Hall
- Tune FCAL trigger (2 - 3 days) (Done)
- - trigger based on the global energy sum
- - read out FCAL only, raw mode for fadc250
- - adjust trigger parameters, tune timing
- - study rates for various trigger thresholds
- Add CDC, FDC, BCAL, ST, TOF (TAGM/TAGH) to the read out (4 - 5 days) (Done)
- - tune timing, adjust trigger prescalings
- - take data with TAGM/TAGH and the PS for the tagging efficiency study and calibration
- Take some data for detector calibration
- - production runs during nights if the system is robust
- - run with high-energy thresholds
- - low-energy thresholds for CDC/FDC calibration (may not work given the current FCAL performance)
- Tune BCAL trigger (2 - 3 days) (In progress)
- - trigger based on the global energy sum
- - alternate FCAL production runs with the BCAL trigger tuning
- Production runs with BCAL (FCAL & BCAL) triggers
- Tune TOF/ST triggers (4 - 5 days)
- Take additional calibration data for CDC/FDC
- Integrate & tune TAGM/TAGH to the trigger (low priority) (4 - 5 days)
Note, commissioning may require significantly more time depending on the system performance.
Global Trigger Performance at High Rate
- Some test can be done without the beam using the the trigger Play Back (PB) and LED pulsers:
- Check FCAL trigger/read out performance for various PB and LED rates
- - read out BCAL/FCAL using raw, pulse integral, time + pulse integral (FCAL) fadc modes
- - detector occupancy of 1 and 5 %
- - block level = 1 and 50
- - buffer level = 1 and 5
- Check rates
