Agenda
- SICCAS crystals
- Module fabrication
- COMCAL tests, TAC running, etc.
- -Testing CCAL -- Sasha
- Data analysis
- Simulations
Minutes
Attendees: Igal,Varun,Phil,Jane,Liping,Sasha,Arshak,Jon,Zisis,Bill,Olga,Susan,Tim B.,S.T.
- No news from SICCAS: still waiting for results of test crystals with new powder
- Module fabrication (on hold for now, but components are available)
- Received brass flanges
- Received samples of 50 micron thick brass straps, doing stress tests: strength double old 25 micron thick strips
- Sasha put CCAL in trigger, tested using LED
- CCAL dividers draw higher current than before: head dissipation in principle could be issue, but chiller seems to handle this well enough (could be tuned)
- Igal gave an update on his continuing π0γγ signal+background analysis
- Need to suppress large peaking background due to η→2γ
- If due to conversions, suggestion was that perhaps TOF veto might help?
- Working with Chase to use BDT in TMVA package to try to separate signal from background
- Double π0 cut (+/-6σ removes 50% of signal)
- Working on simulation using amptools
- Cross section estimate 25% lower than Jon's
- Estimate 50% of Laget prediction
- If holds, ~3x higher flux required to get 50M tagged η's in 100 days
- Need to suppress large peaking background due to η→2γ
