Attending: Christina, George, Pavlos, Kappos (Athens); Elton, Beni, Tim, Eugene, Yi, John, Beni; Zisis, Andrei (UofR); Will, Serguei (USM)
- Announcements
- Will have a meeting on monitoring on Thu at 11:00, same venue
- Review of Action Items
- Monitoring (Christina)
- Discussions in Athens have clarified some questions regarding the proposed monitoring system
- The daisy chain scheme will not work unless the transistor (low impedance) is replaced by a mosfet (can be made into high impedance) without loss of performance
- Discussion about implementing the star arrangement. This could include placing the control board inside the Bcal readout housing. This board would be supplied with a few cables for communication, power and trigger. 20-40 cables to the LED boards would be distributed within the housing box
- Questions to be answered include:
- Space inside the housing box for the control board
- Space between the light guides to place the LED boards
- Note: Baby cal has now been released from customs (it only took about 3 months)
- Discussions in Athens have clarified some questions regarding the proposed monitoring system
- USM update
- Waiting for main prototype boards (expect toward the end of the month)
- Alam is designing a NIM module for (slow) control of the multiplexors that distribute the signals inside the test box
- Implementation of the slow control software underway
- New board for testing a single SiPM should be received soon
- SiPM from JLab is in customs and awaiting paperwork to be released
- Estimates for light guide production (unpolished): Athens (Apr 1); UofR (Apr 7); Jlab (May 1);
- Simulations
- Electrical/cooling (Elton)
- Presented a summary of work at JLab
- Will: Cautioned about gas tightness (and light tightness) of connectors
- Eugene: Raised the concern about the connections for cooling fluid affecting particles at the end of the Bcal. We need to see if tubes can be bent radially outward
- Need to get a firm number for the power dissipation in the monitoring control board (in case it is placed inside the housing box)
- Geometry and light guides
- SiPM First Article testing Update
- 20 of 40 units have been tested. Preliminary results show performance exceeds specifications and uniformity is very good.
