- Invited - Hovanes Egiyan, Stephanie Worthington, Keith Harding, Pavel Degtiarenko, Tim Whitlatch, Eugene Chudakov, Josh Ballard
Agenda
- Review minutes from last meeting
- Review new basic 3D model and compare to Pavel's model (Pavel, Keith)
- Pavel Presentation media:Conceptual Design of CPS Eng.Mtg. 01-16-24.pdf
- Magnet update (Josh)
- Develop path forward for final design (meetings/schedule etc...) (all)
Minutes
- Discussed background of the project and the goal of getting the design completed in a little over a year
- Pavel presented the current conceptual design based on his analysis
- Copper radiator
- Operate remotely
- 300 micron repeatability
- 2 thicknesses plus blank
- 2cm diameter?
- rad hard materials (no encoder)
- maybe proximity switch/LVDT for positions
- Need to develop a complete thermal model as design progresses
- Use of a steel core for support
- overall alignment of magnet and radiator to be within a few hundred microns
- Ability to move the assembly (with out magnets) completely out of the beam to the north wall
- Ability to crane or forklift the core out during decommissioning
- Total weight approximately 90 tonnes
- Need temperature sensors on copper, lead and steel
- Need to fine tune the thermal calcs on copper absorber
- Need water temperature and flow meters
- US magnet to be designed to 2x current plus 10%
- Need tungsten block to absorb the electron beam on magnet failure
- Consult with Hall C folks on their design experience of a CPS
- Josh fine tuning the magnet design
- Moving coils 12cm from beamline
- maybe less steel
- Copper radiator
Action Items
- Pavel to check into exporting his model in a compatible format for NX ( Open Scad etc...
- Stephanie to look into importable files from her end
- Tim to provide stp file of copper absorber from ANSYS for Designers (complete)
- Tim to setup bi-weekly meetings
- Tim to set up and Engineer/Designer detailed meeting
