Minutes

Attendees: Malte, Tim, Scot, Eugene, Hovanes, Mark, Zisis

  1. Announcements:
    1. No change in the expected beam turn on. Eugene mentioned that the next to next beam period might start earlier (fall) and have a shot break over Christmas.
  2. Action Items
    1. Some were completed and have been stricken through. IOC is operational and Google Calendar is being populated.
    2. We went through the Install Schedule (see Mechanical below).
  3. Detector
    1. Malte reported on discussions regarding cosmic tests and scintillator paddles. Beni recalled that the two paddles used currently over the ECAL were the ones used in the commissioning of the BCAL+CDC (49" long, 8" wide). Other paddles exists and these will be investigated. Electronics exist to accommodate paddles. Malte will coordinate with Sasha, as needed.
    2. Malte reported on the FCAL voltage controls. The IOCs were used to run the bases, the interlock is working. Fuses were swapped for the strings that were not working. A handful of detectors need the 180-deg turned around connectors to be correctly installed.
  4. Mechanical:
    1. Tim reported that he spoke with Sasha and Vlad about the fabrication of the temp HV enclosure. This started today (in the schedule it was earlier on Oct) but has no effect on the overall schedule and dependencies.
    2. Sasha plans to add an additional LMS fiber to some ECAL blocks that have low light.
    3. Hovanes asked for a line item to be inserted in the schedule for the ECAL full HV on.
    4. Scot reported that the plan is set for adding a 4" diameter hole on the downstream dark room plate for the beam.
  5. Electrical
    1. Scot reported that electrical outlets for the dehumidifier and heat exchanged will be installed on Friday.
  6. Electronics/DAQ:
    1. Malte mentioned that Sergey got the3 DAQ working just for the FCAL (using TI modules). There are 10 VXS crates for the FCAL (lead glass part).
    2. Hovanes spoke on the CSS scalers. He had worked on these last winter and will resume. He plans to modify what was used before for FCAL1 and apply it to FCAL-lead-glass. Sasha made the translation table for the ECAL, so Hovanes will work on this. He needs the full detector powered up with HV and the LED pulses. It should take a few days.
  7. Any other business: none
