Minutes
Attendees: Zisis, George (UofR); George V., Christina (Athens); Elton, Jack McKisson, Beni, Tim, Eugene, Yi, Fernando (JLab); Will (USM); Ryan, Matt, Mijahlo, Kei (IU);
- Calibration
- Calibration/Monitoring minutes: Oct 26, 2010 Calibration/Monitoring
- GlueX-doc-1640 Update on Fcal monitoring (Athens)
- Improved configuration for uniformity. Replaced LEDs, 5mm lucite sheet, use filters to adjust uniformity.
- Need to investigate optimum thickness of lucite sheet, and method of attaching LEDs
- Final design needs prototyping. Matt suggested dividing the sheet into quadrants. IU will provide mechanical drawings to help design attachment and connection points.
- Matt: Suggestion to use different color LEDs to probe various configurations of energy deposition.
- Eugene: Note that radiation damage depnds on configuration, so interpretation of reponse to different color LEDs requires simulation. Matt: Brad has model for energy deposition, so it could be use to unfold response.
- Lubomir: Need to check cross talk of signals from module to module. Matt: this can be done on IU prototype. Eugene noted that percent cross talk can have important impact on position measurements.

- Announcements
- Meeting time will move up to 10:30 starting on Dec 2 for both Cal working group and Bcal readout. (Tomorrow's meeting will stay at 11:00 am).
- Review of Action Items

- Moving forward according to schedule
- CW bases contract is out. Paul to visit vendor tomorrow. Expect first article units first week in December. Will get update during visit tomorrow.
- Tim: Space at JLab is requested for Feb for receipt of wrapped blocks. Matt to provide optimum schedule for shipping based on technician work plan.
- Request JLab decide on disposition of Fcal cables to free up space at IU.
- Rad Hard Insert - GlueX-doc-1641 Update on Damage Analysis (Brad)
- Determine number of rad hard blocks to include into insert. Present estimate is between 100-180 blocks.
- Lubomir: Should make sure that one takes into account an average over time of damage. Ryan: Variation of damage vs time is also a consideration.
- Eugene: consider a minimal insert with the option of partial restacking of calorimeter after about 5 years of operation.
- IU will write up the analysis into a note with a proposal for number of blocks to be included in the insert.
- Eugene noted that some comparison with published data on damage would be useful. Lubomir to provide references on radiation damage.

- Construction Status
- Module 23 completed, and mod 24 to be completed this week.
- Machining of 21-24 will start in early Dec, shipment expected in Jan.
- Fiber shipment #18 arrived. Latest measurements of #15 show a tight distribution, but Npe number somewhat lower than previous shipments. Will check data with Hamamatsu in case there have been any changes.
- Readout segmentation
- [Notes from Matt] There has been progress in developing the system to make it easy to change configuration of sums. Results will be reported in a future meeting.
