FDC Weekly Meeting
Date: September 13, 2006
Participants: Daniel, Brian, Simon
Next Meeting: Wednesday, October 4, 2006 @ 1:30 p.m.
1). Brian provided a CAD drawing for the full-scale plane
tensioning system. Simon can use this in the FDC report that he is working on.
2). Brian is continuing to work on the FDC mechanical drawings.
Things are progressing on the layout and frame design. We are still several weeks away from mature drawings. A version of these will be put into the FDC report for DOE.
3). We discussed the idea of using sprayed on graphite or conducting
ink for the FDC ground planes. Chris Cuevas has no real preference between these. This approach will eliminate 24 kapton layers for the FDC system. The idea is to spray this directly onto the Rohacell.
4). We raised the idea of using spray on conducting ink for the cathodes
too. The local flatness is such that this cannot be used given our flatness tolerance according to Brian.
5). Brian is planning on using a ``tensile tube" system to limit
compression of the FDC package so that the foam layers will not be compressed.
6). The Rohacell order has still not gone out due to delays in the
12-GeV office.
7). Simon is tuning up HDFAST to address material budget questions and
thickness limitations for momentum resolution. - kapton sheets = 50 microns - epoxy layers = 25 microns - Rohacell layers = 5 mm - Do calculations of dP/P vs. P, theta with and without the material. We can then discuss results with Elton and Curtis.
8). Brian will pursue getting a sample of conductive ink to do some
tests.
9). We briefly touched on the gas distribution system for the FDC
system and cooling needed for the on-chamber electronics. No real design or discussion yet on these two points.
10). Due to the upcoming BCAL test in Hall B, we will not have our
next FDC meeting for several weeks.
