Action Items
- Estimate rates and ranges of parameters needed for the photon beam tuning (Todd for accelerator; Eugene, Alexandre for Hall D)
- Need rates for profiler, start counter, ps
-
Richard will provide a "sacrificial" board with 30 SiPMs to register neutron damage during initial electron beam tune. - Complete the tagger drawing with the expected configuration for the fall running, including all shielding. (Tim, Chuck, Elton)
Agenda
- Announcements
- Accelerator and Hall D Interface Document - update
- Update on Photon Commissioning (Alexandre)
- Beam Simulations
- RadCon update
- Other business
Minutes
Attending: Elton, Alexandre, Eugene, Hovanes, Tim, Glenn (Hall D); Pavel (RadCon); Richard (UConn); Curtis (CMU);
- Announcements
- Power outage across the accelerator site; Hall D lost power for about 20 min - most systems restored. One compressor of Hall D refrigerator failed. Accelerator is recovering. Systems in Hall D are coming back on. The UPS in the counting room maintained power throughout the outage
- Action items
- Sacrificial board
- Richard will send an e-mail to Alex to work with Alexandre to make a sacrificial board available for checking degradation during initial beam tune.
- Richard/Alex will measure dark current before beam tuning for comparison with measurements afterwards
- Alexandre has OSPs that will be used to determine the integrated dose during the initial beam tuning.
- The sacrificial board will be shielded together with one OSP, another OSP will be placed nearby outside the shielding to determine its effectiveness.
- Mounting prepamplifiers near collimator
- Richard says the cables are 63 cm long, which limits where these can be placed
- Alexandre will coordinate with Alex on equipping the active collimator and placement of the preamplifer boards.
- Moving the microscope into the tagger hall
- Richard argued successfully for moving the microscope into the tagger hall before initial commissioning. Tim will check that there is sufficient manpower
- The move will be done early in order to check that all pieces are in place before commissioning.
- The electronic boards will be removed for the commissioning (as well as electronics)
- UConn manpower: Brendan has returned to Conn. Alex has moved here. Jim will stay till microscope move has been completed.
- Sacrificial board
- Accelerator and Hall D Interface Document - update
- Elton has updated the document based on input from Richard, Mike and Alexandre.
- Once Mike provides more input, the document should be close to final and ready for wider circulation
- Update on Photon Commissioning (Alexandre)
- Slow controls (Hovanes)
- Hovanes is workin gon the Beam profiler
- Vanik is working on the harp scans
- Halo monitors
- Nick/Chris have lengths and are making cables, will then install them
- Waiting for caps needed to assemble pmts
- Survey
- Started working in tagger hall
- Will move next to collimator hut
- Richard: alignment of active collimator on collimator should be checked using a 5mm pin that fits both the collimator hole and the aperture of the active collimator
- Radiator motor and switch will be installed and stay in tagger hall.
- At the moment, the VME crates can be reset remotely, HV crates soon. Switches are not.
- Slow controls (Hovanes)
- Beam Simulations
- RadCon update
- Melvin relocating monitors. Moving probes from the outside of the truck ramp inside
- Working with Alexandre to place probes inside the tagger hall and in the collimator hut.
- Alexandre has in hand 40 OSL personel dosimeters that will be used to measure integrated dose during initial commissioning at various locations in the tagger hall and the collimator hut.
- Gap between polyethylene door to labyrinth in tagger hall has been filled with concrete blocks.
- Richard will update the GEANT model with concrete instead of iron.
- Other business
- Daily meetings: 8:30 daily meetings will begin in Hall D to cover installation activities
- Connections will be made in the conference room using the GlueX bi-weekly number
