Light Yield Setup

FCAL-II update: status and plans

• Vlad B. has been working on a light yield test stand in the Hall C NPS lab/cleanroom
  • Evaluated 460 SICCAS crystals, rejected almost 50 that passed visual inspection
  • Using weak uCi Na22 source -- Sascha ordered 10 uCi source
  • Plan is to measure 10-20 crystal's light yield along length using linear translation stand (~$300)
  • Plan is to evaluate all new crystals as they come to lab in November, compare with Shanghai Ceramic Institute's light yield numbers
  • Part of multi-level crystal evaluation scheme (crystal size, visual inspection, transmittance, light yield with and without light guide...)
• Plan is for fabrication of modules to take place in TEDF in fenced-off area
• 12 crystal test setup for use in hall after pair spectrometer is under construction
• Light guide material, cookie material still need to be finalized
• Stress testing of assembly planned/in progress
• Light monitoring system: 12 fibers? design in progress
• V. Popov is working on divider design, 2+ new versions for testing during upcoming run
