Agenda
- Review minutes from last meeting https://halldweb.jlab.org/wiki/index.php/September_10,_2024_KLONG_CPS_Design_Meeting
- Absorber Power Density calculations - Pavel
- Core shielding radiation plots - Pavel
- 2" bottom steel plate
- Temperature results from 20% radiator
Minutes
Pavel went over his shielding and power deposition plots and we discussed the implementation of them into the design. The shielding layout we (Josh and Keith) supplied to Pavel is acceptable with a 12" thick borated poly shield on top, upstream and down the sides of the absorber going down close to the floor. There is no poly below the assembly and downstream can be thinner (6"). Nominally, we will put a 2" steel plate below the assembly close to the floor which will count as shielding, air caster support and borated poly support. We are in general agreement that the power deposition and associated temperatures in the 20% radiator nominal and narrow beam configurations are acceptable. There are still some questions on relative power absorption compared to the 10% radiator. We also spoke about using PLC to trigger the FSD on temperatures.
Actions
- Pavel to add 7000 lbs of steel for stand below the assembly for radiation models
- Pavel will rerun the 10% nominal and narrow beam power absorption models as well as the 20% to verify the peak power absorption.
- Tim will rerun thermal models to verify
- Once the power models are fine tuned and temperature profiles are are completed, we will ask Silviu to verify using his models.
- Tim to run transient model to determine best locations for thermocouples for FSD
