Minutes

Attending: Albert, Alex, Beni, David, Ilya, Mark, Rory, Simon

1. Our next CPP meeting with be Wed. Aug. 17 at 10:00 AM 2. At the next meeting David will present the plan for using an AI algorithm to control HV on the CDC during the CPP/NPP run. 3. MWPC testing at JLab: Alex has been taking data with the MWPC. There’s an issue with getting a 250 MHz clock signal in the DAQ crate to run the FADC250. That issue aside, the DAQ is running correctly and the FADC125 connected to the MWPC seems to be taking good data. Albert has started to look at the data files. 4. Rory pointed out there’s a problem with the MWPC electronics, edge connectors on the chamber aren’t grounded. As a consequence the ground shield on the signal cable isn’t connected to MWPC electronics ground. There is a simple fix to the problem, use 2 mil thick copper tape to ground the edge connector to the ground strip on the bottom side of the preamp PCBs. This has been tested, and it looks like a good solution. Rory will consult with Fernando on this. 5. Albert presented preliminary results for a neural net analysis for pion/muon separation based on FCAL and track momentum from the FDCs. There are features in the MLP response plot that are difficult to understand, and need more study. Nevertheless it did seem like a reasonable level of muon rejection can be achieved based solely on measurements of FCAL DOCA, E9/E25 and EFCAL/P. Albert will show results to Kishan.
