Minutes

Attending: Elton, Simon, Albert, Ilya, Alex, Mark, Beni, Rory, Andrew

  1. Previous CPP meeting: Jun 9, 2021
  2. Announcements
  3. Action Items
  4. CPP and NPP Readiness Review
  5. MWPC Testing
    • First shipment arrived!
    • OSP (Beni)
    • OSP has been completed and submitted for signatures
    • Electronics is being scrutinized. Beni has discussed mods with Chris for connections to LV.
    • The rack in EEL 126 belongs to Brad from Hall C. It contains two NIM bins and sufficient room for a VXS crate. Serguei says that halld2 CPU can be used, but may need specific subnet access. Beni will ask him to setup the DAQ.
    • Scintillators (Rory). Suggests that the scintillators to be used in the experiment be identified and we do the testing with these counters so that they will be ready when we setup in Hall D. He proposes using two scintillators, symmetric about the beamline, midway between beamline and outer edge of MWPC.
    • Travel (Rory)
    • Albert and Rory are ready to come down and make first checks on the MWPCs. However, JLab approvals are needed. Both have been vaccinated.
    • Albert does not even have a JLab badge (he only has a computer account at the moment). David noted that some new staff in his group are getting their new badges. We need to check with Eugene.
  6. hdgeant4 updates (Beni and Simon)
  7. GlueX Data Analysis
  8. CPP Software
    • Energy Loss in Iron
    • Mu-minus response is as expected. Mu-plus seems to loose tracks below 1.6 GeV. Need to investigate.
    • David will send a command to inspect the hddm files directly. [Note added: The "magic" command is hd_ana -PPLUGINS=janaroot -PAUTOACTIVATE=DMCThrown file.hddm. Elton tried it and it works like a charm, producing root trees from the hddm structures.]
  9. PID + AI
  10. Other business
    • Expert shifts for Andrew. We think that approval from Rory is sufficient, but he will make contact with Reinhard.
    • DNP in Boston: Rory suggests that abstracts be submitted. Andrew will submit an abstract on the BH polarimetry and Rory will submit an abstract for CPP/NPP.
  11. Next meeting
