Agenda

Notes

  • ) Announcements

CD2 has been announced by DOE this last week! Preparations are already underway at the lab for the CD3 Lehmann review.

  • ) Upcoming Events

A meeting next Tuesday is scheduled to review progress and milestones.

  • ) Detector Run Through
    • ) Beamline & Tagger

The Statement of Work (SOW) for the 100% tagger design project is nearing a final draft. Meetings were held last week within the tagger group and between the tagger group and Jefferson Lab to go over the drafts. Several changes were suggested and decisions were made. The current state of the design package is posted here on the wiki.

  • ) Solenoid

The IUCF crew have opened coil 3 and are looking it over. It is not very pretty inside, a lot of corrosion is seen. They are assessing what can be done to efficiently solve the leak.

  • ) Target
  • ) Start Counter
  • ) UPV
  • ) CDC

Pictures of the signal/HV feed-throughs are now posted on the wiki to make it easier to understand how the connections are made. A time-distance function for the CDC based on Garfield calculations has been coded up and will be checked into svn. A CMU student is now completing work on a track finder in the CDC, based on a Hough transform. The algorithm has been tested and is being intergrated into the GlueX jana framework. The new preamp prototype being made by JLab is being assembled to be compatible with the feed-through geometry so that it can be tested on the prototype chamber at CMU.

  • ) FDC

The cost estimate for winding the FDC chambers from IUCF are due within a week or so. The estimates have been made, and are making their way through the chain of approval. The hope is that the outfit who winds the new prototype will be the same one who produces the final chambers. The existing prototype is being reassembled in the test lab. Data collection will be possible as soon as the end of the week. Simon is working with David and Mark on the track finding algorithm in the forward. The detector group is putting together a prototype of the frames according to the new light-weight design.

Blake is finishing up the analysis of the test run data. Regina has received 4 of the new SiPM arrays from Sensl. They spent the last few days trying to make them work. They had problems with making the electrical connections, but now they are using conductive epoxy and the connections are working better. Tests so far with the new modules have been studied and results posted here on the wiki. The summary of these results is that these are not working prototypes. It is an open question whether the failures are due to the repeated making/breaking of the connections. With these devices, it is not really possible to consider that the Phase I development agreement with Sensl has reached a successful conclusion. This needs to be resolved before we proceed with Phase II.
