### There was considerable discussion about possible causes and ways to investigate them. Differences from normal production include no magnetic field and no tracking for some periods. The lack of field can lead to increase in charged hadronic background.

Goals for Calorimetry Group

  1. Determine preliminary photon reconstruction efficiencies as a function of E, phi and theta in data and simulation with a point-to-point precision of at least 5%.
  2. Measure systematics of pi0/eta mass calibration as a function of detector position to a precision of at east 5 MeV.
  3. Demonstrate agreement of photon reconstruction efficiency and resolution between data and simulation as a function of E, phi and theta to within 5%.

Action Items

  1. Check switches on FCAL board with high scaler rates and make sure it is set to 2 V full scale. (Colin and Sasha)
  2. Move monitoring plots of the FCAL/BCAL front panel triggers into FCAL/BCAL monitoring section (Zisis) Zisis has worked Varun to develop the plots. They will report on this next week.
  3. <strikComplete calibrations by April 1? See 2020 Data Productione> </strike> Karthik has almost completed the task for batch 1.

Minutes

Attending: Curtis, Chandra, Jon, Karthik, Sean, Susan, Tolga, Varun, Zisis, Mark, Foda, Christina, Matt, Sasha

  1. Announcements
  2. Action Items
  3. Run Updates
    1. General : The accelerator shutdown under MEDCON6 on Tuesday March 24. Complete shutdown procedures were followed. All electreronics has been powered down. Mark said that the chillers were also turned off. The nitrogen flow was left on the BCAL. Daily walkthrus of all end-stations are being conducted by handful of authorized personnel. See log books for status.
  4. Calibrations
    1. Spring 2020 GlueX gain calibration
      1. Calibrated for the batch1 runs- 71350 - 71591
      2. Started with Fall 2018 gains with Mark's gain ratios applied to it.
      3. So far 12 Iterations are done. The gain procedure is going smooth until now. gainsSpring2020
      4. Resolution after 12 iterations is as good or better than previous calibrations (sigma/mean~0.058).
      5. Elton: The change in gain appears to be on the order of 25% compared to original base. It would be nice to understand this. Sean: How much have the gain rations changed? Zisis: They will investigate the changes in the gains in the ccdb. Mark: will look into the gain ratios for previous runs.
      6. Karthik: Will require 3-4 more iterations before we tighten the uniformity of pi0 mass compared to previous calibrations. After that , the non-linearity correction will be needed.
    2. PrimEx gain calibration PrimEx Gain update
      1. Karthik presented the reconstructed pi0 peak for various PRIMEX periods compared to the 2018 calibration. The peak is consistently low at 130 MeV. The pi0 peak in layer 3 is practically absent.
      2. There was considerable discussion about possible causes and ways to investigate them. Differences from normal production include no magnetic field and no tracking for some periods. The lack of field can lead to increase in charged hadronic background.
      3. Curtis: Checking events on the event viewer show that most tracks are noise and many show curvature. Matt: What is the residual field in the magnet when turned off?
      4. Sasha: What is the energy threshold? Karthik: 0.4 GeV.
      5. Elton: A suggestion by Mark would be to use the BCAL gains obtained during GlueX running and adjust the pi0 peak using the non-linearity correction, which is an overall normalization.
