Minutes

Attendees: Christine, George (Athens), Elton, David, Mark D., Will M. (JLab), Noemi, Ahmed, Tegan, Zisis (Regina)

  1. Announcements:
    1. A physics analysis workshop (akin to the 2013 GlueX Analysis Workshop) will be planned, most likely after the Geant4 release of our simulation code.
    2. Tegan and Ahmed will attend the 2015 International Summer School on Reaction Theory.
  2. Action Items: none that need dealing with right now.
  3. Commissioning Status Quo
    1. Time-walk corrections (Noemi)[3] Noemi is continuing her t-w investigation using Elton's toy pulse generation model, and specifically examining the stability of the time-walk correction fit parameters.
    2. George is working on the z-coordinates towards the v_eff determination. Some discrepancies exist between the matched tracks z (0-400cm) and the shower z (0-200cm). This is under investigation.
    3. Ahmed is continuing work on the layer efficiencies, picking up from Elton's work presented at the collaboration meeting. There are some puzzles, such as why are the mod 7 (95%) and mod 8 (85%) efficiencies different, etc.
  4. Simulations
    1. Small comparison between new and old mcsmear code (Tegan) Wavetrain code vs. single-energy code Single energy code delivers lower energy but same number of hits. In timing, the low wavetrain tail is gone from the single energy timing; the peaks are at the same mean and have roughly the same sigma. It was noted that the simulated event display still looks somewhat noisier than data. Suggestions for further studies included: remove all smearing, look at other events on the viewer, overlay the curves from old and new code, with and without dark hits. David reminded us that there are command line parameters that turn on/off the dark hits.
  5. Any other business
