## [[https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3366286 Cosmics data acquisition]] (Tegan, Andrei): Causes of the noise in the bottom counters were discussed.  Noise in cables is not a cause (Tegan tested signal right out of PMT).  Possibly a light leak or high frequency device near by.  Verify that other detectors done see the same thing.  Look at BCAL baseline channels.  If BCAL is ok, let's live with it and implement cuts in the plugins.

## Cosmics analysis (Andrei, Irina): Rechecked quality of tracking for calibration with cosmic muons.  Will present next week.  Things look ok, preliminary calibration constants have been produced.  Compared to data last year: things look ok, no failed channels (low amplitude channels are now fit ok).  Used new attenuation lengths.  Compared to Will's constants the difference is large.  Will and Andrei are discussing this.  Will will check out new constants. Done on Tegan's Dec 2014 data, with +1.2V bias. This is why we should take new data with the 1.4 V that we have now. More next week.

## [[http://argus.phys.uregina.ca/gluex/DocDB/0028/002895/001/Fitting.pdf Time-walk corrections]] (Noemi) Mike's algorithm plus a new 4-parameter fit were shown.  Look at the grass at deviations in the tail.  Extend the fitting to low ADC. Don't plot it versus profile, but versus data.  Make 2D histos of tdiff vs ADC.  Why use profiles and not Graph. Try Nathan's parametrization (linear term and conditions on continuity of derivatives).  Use compound function?

## Calibration parameters into CCDB: changes behind the scenes to make admin easier.  BCAL timing issues are being examined. Things at hit level were fine; shift of truth vs reconstructed average times.  Curvature showers have not been propagated to be used at the analysis level.  Sean and Tegan are communicating on this, and Sean will compare to see how showers improve things.  Elton requested that we have a document on this, so that everyone knows how to use it. Put on action item list.

Minutes

Attendees: George (Athens), Elton, Mark, Tegan (JLab), Will (CMU), Sean (NWU), Andrei, Noemi, Zisis (Regina)’’

  1. Announcements: accelerator on track to deliver beam this weekend.
  2. Action Items: Sampling fraction: thinking of how to implement (rows to layers).
  3. BCAL Data in December:
    1. what kind? pi0 calibration? (Magnet off). Run with low intensity and FDC off? We can do calibration with just CDC should be ok. Will has used straight line data to do calibration before, although not as good. How do these affect the results? Will will get an estimate of events that use only CDC. Maybe worthwhile with a lot of data. There should be opportunities overnight to take lots of data.
    2. What about trigger studies? BCAL-FCAL, BCAL only, BCAL-TOF?, etc. Start with BCAL-FCAL trigger.
    3. SiPMs? Leave at 1.4V, 10 C chiller, sensors at 12 C, threshold 1.05. Integration window is -5 50 +55 in spring, 0-26. Discuss SiPM temp again next week.
  4. Calibration/Commissioning
    1. [Cosmics data acquisition] (Tegan, Andrei): Causes of the noise in the bottom counters were discussed. Noise in cables is not a cause (Tegan tested signal right out of PMT). Possibly a light leak or high frequency device near by. Verify that other detectors done see the same thing. Look at BCAL baseline channels. If BCAL is ok, let's live with it and implement cuts in the plugins.
    2. Cosmics analysis (Andrei, Irina): Rechecked quality of tracking for calibration with cosmic muons.
    3. [Time-walk corrections] (Noemi) Mike's algorithm plus a new 4-parameter fit were shown.
    4. Layer efficiencies (Ahmed): new updated report will be posted soon.
    5. Effective speed (George): nothing new. Physics simulations soon.
    6. Up/down gain ratios from latest replay (Mark): this can be taken.
    7. Muon decays
      1. Data analysis (Will): nothing new since we looked at the energy ratios plots. Busy with finals.
      2. Simulations (Andrei/Irina): problems in the simulations with ntuples are resolved. Next week results will be shown. Elton, Will want histos and numbers from Andrei.
    8. Calibration parameters into CCDB: changes behind the scenes to make admin easier.
  5. Reconstruction: nothing to report.
  6. DocDB migration: David has been communicating with Marty and Sherman on using JDocDB (Drupal-based) product, and migrate our DocDB to it. Zisis will send a report with recommendations to Curtis and the CB so that a decision can be reached on whether to migrate or not.
  7. Any other business: snow in Regina!
