Cosmic ray simulation with CRY

In order to better simulate the expected performance of alignment of GlueX detectors with cosmic rays, an event generator using the Cosmic-ray Shower library CRY is being developed. CRY provide a more accurate model of the energy and angular distributions of cosmic rays, and should allow an investigation of alignment performance of the detector subsystems for different integrated run times with cosmic rays.

Event generation

Events generated using CRY are distributed over a plane of 100 m x 100 m. This large size is required to ensure the full range of polar angle is covered. For now, only single muon events are recorded. Thrown particles are rejected if they do not pass the region of the detector. The selected events will be saved to an hddm file that can be used as input to HDGeant. A ROOT output file will also be created that contains the parameters of the thrown particles.
