Action Items

  1. FCAL: Cross check MC changes by Richard to make sure that gains are not affected in both Geant3 and Geant4 (Matt/IHEP)
  2. Fix FCAL online monitoring plugin to properly plot low level digi quantities in 2D displays. 2D display of pedestal is hard to get because occupancy plot is filled in a different loop. (Tolga)
  3. BCAL: Check pulsing rate of LED triggers when FP trigger bit is missing (start with early runs in fall 2018). With discerning software, check pulsing rate of later runs where it appeared that the downstream FP LED bit was not firing.

Long term items:

  1. From Mike's work: -cos(phi) type dependence in the data and a phi dependence at the downstream end of the bcal. See Sep 21, 2017 Calorimeter Meeting.
  2. FCAL: It has been noticed that the pi0 mass shifts when the LED pulser runs at high rate. This is still not understood. See Log Entry 3595928 and references.

Goals for Calorimetry Group

  1. Determine preliminary photon reconstruction efficiencies as a function of E, phi and theta in data and simulation with a point-to-point precision of at least 5%.
  2. Measure systematics of pi0/eta mass calibration as a function of detector position to a precision of at east 5 MeV.
  3. Demonstrate agreement of photon reconstruction efficiency and resolution between data and simulation as a function of E, phi and theta to within 5%.

Minutes

Attending: Elton, Collin, Mark (JLab); Karthik, Zisis (UofR); Christina, George (Athens); Tolga (FIU); Will, Curtis (CMU)

  1. Announcements
    • Eugene is collecting a list for management of "critical spares" (resulting in about 2 weeks of downtime) from all subsystems. We need to provide this information for BCAL/FCAL. Zisis: chillers? Elton and Collin chatted after the meeting and exchanged e-mails with Matt and Paul Smith. It appears the FCAL has sufficient spares. (Fernando is gathering info regarding Flashes and ISEG/MPOD modules). Elton: We should check on the spares for the V1495 logic module used for LED pulsing systems.
  2. Action Items
    1. Tolga: Progress update in this study posted here: [2] I will try to attend the meeting but have been feeling under the weather. If I decide to rest during the time I apologize, but the slides are here for the Cal group's reference and convenience.
      • Tolga presented progress and suggestions and advice were offered.
  3. Run Updates
    1. FCAL (Collin)
      • Only 4 bases need replacing. Voltages were adjusted for FCAL channels having calculated gains by Ilya between 0.8-2 (about 1/3 of all pmts). Overall pi0 peak looks good (integrated). Ilya is working on checking output. Fits to pi0 mass for the outer channels looks good using pi0s originating downstream of the target.
    2. BCAL
      • BCAL is being readout but not being current used. Sean: pi0 peaks are present in monitoring plots, but output is somewhat confusing, perhaps due to differences from the main GlueX trigger. [Note that BCAL is not in the trigger now, which is PS + (FCAL*CCAL)]
  4. Calibrations
    1. Summary on BCAL pi0 calibration with SiPM saturation File:Summary.pdf
      • Karthik presented his new gains using the SiPM saturation correction of pixel/count=0.1. This was also presented yesterday at the Production and Analysis meeting.
      • Calibrations have been completed for the first period of spring 2018.
      • It was agreed to a) merge the SiPM_saturation code into the master, b) update the ccdb with the new gain constants, c) set the non-linearity constants so no additional corrections are made to the showers. d) the constants would be activated at run 40000-inf.
      • Karthik has submitted new jobs to check the calibrations for the other periods in spring 2018 and will report the results soon.
  5. Reconstruction and Simulation
  6. Monitoring
  7. NIM articles
  8. Any other business
    • Zisis: Colleen has finished drafting her report on the calibrations for layer 4 using cosmic rays. It will be posted to the portal after Zisis provides comments. This includes a how-to and code being checked into github.
