MEDM
- Based on Motif.
- Extensively used in all hall in Jefferson Lab.
- Well understood by the Hall D online group.
- Easy to set up and easy to use.
- Limited functionality.
- This is an old technology, and it would be desirable to not used as the main display manager for Hall D control systems. It might be useful for doing quick studies due to its ease of use.
EDM
- Current display management in accelerator.
- Requires Motif or equivalent.
- Improvement over MEDM, enhanced functionality.
- Somewhat more difficult to setup than MEDM.
- There were issues raised by people from cryo group regarding how fast a screen loads when there are too many widgets on the screen.
- Old technology. The only reason this can be considered as an option is if accelerator division decides to use this in the 12 GeV era.
CSS
