Goals for Calorimetry Group

  1. Determine preliminary photon reconstruction efficiencies as a function of E, phi and theta in data and simulation with a point-to-point precision of at least 5%.
  2. Measure systematics of pi0/eta mass calibration as a function of detector position to a precision of at least 5 MeV.
  3. Demonstrate agreement of photon resolution between data and simulation as a function of E, phi and theta to within 5%.
  4. Demonstrate agreement of photon reconstruction efficiency between data and simulation as a function of E, phi and theta to within 5%.

Minutes

Attendees: Jon, Karthik, Malte, Mark, Matt, Varun

  1. Run Operations
    1. FCAL: aggressive changeout seems to have prevented failures, very smooth running. FCAL lockups are in alarm handler (voltage failures suppressed.) Guidance remains to wait until normal end of run to reset.
    2. BCAL: Smooth operations, 1 hot channel.
  2. Calibration
    1. FCAL calibration: There is an idea of using LEDs to help with the FCAL pi0 calibration. Need to separate common mode LED fluctuation from channel effects. Due to rad damage, the LEDs are not a good long term monitor. There is an idea to move the FCAL downstream on last day of running to illuminate outer blocks with pi0 photons.
  3. Monitoring
    1. Varun: BCAL LED things look good.
  4. Simulations
    1. Matt: Kevin Saldana are looking into photon efficiency. Timing resolution was not well modeled. Kevin has improved timing resolution model in MC. Starting comparisons with data now.
