Bluejeans Video Conferening

In 2014, ESNET will stop supporting video conferencing. In order to fill the gap, Jefferson Lab has a contract with bluejeans video conferencing service. The following is a description on how to connect various devices into a bluejeans conference.

  • Note that the moderator should be connected through a computer browser so as to have access to all the controls in bluejeans.
  • It is possible to have more than one moderator in a meeting.
  • Desktop sharing works between computers, but the polycom systems do not seem to have good enough resolution to see the shared desktop.

Getting Started

  • Initialization:
    • You may want to register with Jefferson Lab as a bluejeans user. Visit [1] and create and account.
    • You will need to make sure that the appropriate plugin is installed on your computer to exercise this option.
    • Download copies of the plugins from DocDb: [Plugins]
    • If you are registered, you can install and use bluejeans apps for iOS and android.

Polycom Systems

This inlcudes both room-based polycom systems, and the polycom app that you may have installed on your tablet or phone.

  • Connect your polycom device to the IP address 199.48.152.152 or bjn.vc .
  • Enter the meeting ID noted on the Wiki page for the meeting. This is a 9-digit number.
  • If you are the moderator of the meeting, enter your moderator code. Otherwise just join the meeting.

Connect via Webbrowser on PC or Mac

  • Connecting via your webbrowser
    • If you have registered, visit [2] and enter the 9-digit meeting ID to connect.
    • If you are not registered, got to the site https://bluejeans.com/xxxxxxxxx where xxxxxxxxxis the 9-digit conference ID.

Connect by Telephone

  • For the US and Canada only, dial one of the following phone numbers
    • +1 408 740-7256
    • +1 888 240-2560
  • Enter the meeting ID noted on the Wiki page for the meeting. This is a 9-digit number.

Desktop Sharing

Desktop sharing only seems to work through the browser interface on your computer. If you want to use this, you will need to connect your computer to the conference as long as any other device you are using. Make sure that the microphone and speaker are only enabled on one device.
