Announcements

  1. jlabm1.jlab.org. The Computer and Network Infrastructure (CNI) Group has deployed a Mac-Mini on the the JLab Common User Environment (CUE). It is running Darwin with an Intell processor. It is available for log-in just like other CUE systems.
    • Mark will send around the email announcing this deployment.
  2. Grid certificates granted. Sandy Philpott issued DOE grid certificates to Ryan and Jake recently, although there was a glitch in the details of Jake's.
    • Mark will check into creation of computer accounts for Dan and Jake.
  3. PID FOM. IU had reported some confusing in interpreting the particle ID figure of merit produced by the reconstruction. Simon remarked that the current code is not the final word on PID. Simon and David are looking at it now. IU may take an independent look at the problem as well.

Review of minutes from the last meeting

We went over the minutes.

  • David has been talking to Ed Brash on further planning for the Software Workshop.
  • The 48-core machine on loan to the Lab will become available to us again soon. It will be here another two weeks.

JANA plugins

David gave a concise introduction to how plugins are used in the JANA framework. See his slides for details. They are used extensively in several contexts in the current system and allow a way to manage different projects and code sets all without changing the fundamental executable.

David will get back to us with the location of existing documentation (beyond the talk presented).

New Action Items

  1. Forward email announcing jlabm1 to offline group. -> Mark
  2. Check into JLab computer account creation for Dan Bennett and Jake Bennett. -> Mark
  3. Check into JANA plugin documentation. -> David
