Minutes

Present:

  • FIU: Werner Boeglin, Puneet Khetarpal, Eric Pooser
  • JLab: Chuck Hutton, Mark Ito (chair)

Contract

The proposal from FIU is past due. On the other hand, Mark has exchanged email with Jarrod Fitzpatrick, and this situation seems less than dire. Werner thinks that he can come up with a draft Procedures and QA plan by Monday. Mark agreed to review the plan.

Counter Construction

Eric is in contact with Chuck Hurlbut at Eljen and Robert McNeal (at McNeal) and is getting quotes on their respective construction steps. The cost from McNeal should be about the same as for the previous prototypes.

Werner asked about cables for testing the counters. Mark told us that his understanding is that JLab will supply the cables. Mark will confirm that with Fernando. We decided that we would make a tentative plan to try to test all thirty counters at once at FIU. That will drive plans for lending electronics and for manufacturing cables in advance of installation in the Hall.

Eric reported that Eljen is suggesting that we use EJ-200 rather than the EJ-212 we had planned for originally. We will order five counters initially, with height and width of 3 mm × 30 mm before machining. Including the cost of practice runs, it should come out to about $200 per counter. Eljen says that once the order has been placed, the counters can be manufactured in a matter of days.

Chuck Hutton will ask around and see how folks at the Lab have made sure that vendors adhere to the required shipping standards.

Assembly Drawings

We looked at a set of drawings Chuck has done with the final dimensions of the start counter support structure.
