  • JLab: Eugene Chudakov, Chuck Hutton, Mark Ito (chair)

Mechanical Design and Construction

The material ordered from Eljen is at McNeal. The order for 3 paddles has been placed with them. The dimensions should be as in final design. If acceptable, these modules can be used in the detector.

FIU is currently setting up for connecting SiPM readout to a real scintillator paddle. Tests done before were with a pulsed led directly on the SiPM.

Eric presented the current ideas on the mechanical assembly of the final detector. The idea is to use pneumatic pistons which exert pressure, digitally-controlled, to hold the scintillator bars in place around the inner foam support before the outer wrapping is done. The arrangement can be rotated around the beam axis. See his slides for details.

Werner is thinking about writing a NIM article about the FIU measurements and simulation. There is not much in the literature on the issues with long thin scintillators.

Eric asked Chuck to send a CAD model of the inner foam support.

Contract

Werner has started work on a schedule. He still has some questions for McNeal and issues to discuss with Lei Guo. He will send out a draft soon.
