GlueX Tutorial 2018

Purpose

1. To discuss software and analysis techniques that will be essential in extracting first physics results from GlueX data.
   • Specifically, a simulated analysis of polarization observables and spin-density matrix elements (SDMEs) of γp→ωp

• These talks, tutorials, and hands-on sessions will be catered towards graduate students to help familiarize them with doing physics analyses with Jefferson Lab experimental data.

Previous GlueX Tutorials

• We conducted a similar workshop back in 2013, doing a simulated full analysis of γp→π⁺π⁺π^-n. It covered the software and analysis steps necessary to do an amplitude analysis of this channel, from signal generation through amplitude fitting.
• It is not necessary to have gone through the 2013 workshop talks and exercises to attend the 2016 workshop. However, you will probably benefit if you do, as certain topics will not be covered and others will be condensed (e.g. Doing an analysis in JANA).
