Agenda

  • SICCAS crystals
  • COMCAL tests, TAC running, etc.

Test of the active base

Divider checks
Comparison of optical fibers
  • SiPM discussion
  • Data analysis
  • Simulations

Minutes

Attendees: Igal,Zisis,Phil,Susan,Jared,Sasha,Jon,Azizah,Tim B.,Liping,Arshak

  • PMT dividers ready to be shipped to Zisis
    • Chris S. fixed some issues with the boards
  • SICCAS finally responded to our requests for updates
    • Expect to ship another batch of crystals (~200?) after return from Chinese holiday
    • Need to spend money soon -- some indication from Sasha that we can use OPS money?
  • Need to order more PMTs this fiscal year (long lead time: 4-5 months for delivery)
  • Work continues on refurbishing Light Monitoring System for COMCAL
    • Using wider diameter fibers, getting much larger light output
    • Using alpha source for LED stability measurements
  • Work continues for improving active base design
    • Want to get Fernando B. more involved
    • Want to decouple power for amp from other part of base
    • Maybe not need amplifier for COMCAL, allow for optional small (~3x) amplification?
  • Some discussion regarding use of SiPMs instead of PMTS
    • Not feasible for insert (already have ~600 PMTs) but EIC folks are thinking of using SiPMs: maybe we can contribute to effort in some way?
    • Would probably have to use an array for typical crystal dimensions
    • Radiation hardness? (need to worry about neutrons...)
  • Igal has been looking at 3γ and 4γ final states in data and bggen background simulations
    • Rough agreement between MC and data for 3γ case, but more features seen in real data
    • Looking for evidence of direct B production in π0γ
