Agenda

  • SICCAS crystals

  • COMCAL tests, TAC running, etc.
-Testing CCAL -- Sasha
  • Data analysis
  1. \eta \to \gamma\gamma\pi^0
  • Simulations

Minutes

Attendees: Igal,Varun,Phil,Jane,Liping,Sasha,Arshak,Jon,Zisis,Bill,Olga,Susan,Tim B.,S.T.

  • No news from SICCAS: still waiting for results of test crystals with new powder
  • Module fabrication (on hold for now, but components are available)
    • Received brass flanges
    • Received samples of 50 micron thick brass straps, doing stress tests: strength double old 25 micron thick strips
  • Sasha put CCAL in trigger, tested using LED
  • CCAL dividers draw higher current than before: head dissipation in principle could be issue, but chiller seems to handle this well enough (could be tuned)
  • Igal gave an update on his continuing π0γγ signal+background analysis
    • Need to suppress large peaking background due to η→2γ
      • If due to conversions, suggestion was that perhaps TOF veto might help?
    • Working with Chase to use BDT in TMVA package to try to separate signal from background
    • Double π0 cut (+/-6σ removes 50% of signal)
      • Working on simulation using amptools
    • Cross section estimate 25% lower than Jon's
      • Estimate 50% of Laget prediction
      • If holds, ~3x higher flux required to get 50M tagged η's in 100 days
