Minutes

  1. Attendance: Curtis (CMU), Matt (IU), Joe and Carsten (GSI), Maria and Cristiano (MIT), Justin and Eugene (JLab)
  1. Announcements
  2. October 2015 Review Report
    • We looked through the recommendations in the report.
    • One item that came up in the discussion were some of the general recommendations for transportation:
      • To focus the discussion Matt and John will prepare a few concrete options for transportation and testing for the group to review
      • We could convene a small group of experts to review these options and provide more specific guidelines for how to proceed
  3. Box length and support structure plans (All)
    • The box length is still an open question, however Jason is working on it and hoped to have a number by the end of last week. We will continue following up offline.
  4. PMT coupling and photon yield maps (Maria)
    • Maria showed some results of simulations for various PMT coupling options (cookies, grease, air gap)
    • The cookies look very attractive, with very little photon losses, while more photons are lost with grease and with an air gap (both losses increasing with thickness)
    • The cost of the material for the cookies is ~$350 for the entire area of the readout plane. Maria will look into the silicon oil as well
    • Maria (and Joe) will consult with the Belle II folks about how they measured the transmission through the cookies.
  5. Planning for FY16
    • We reviewed the major items from the project for the upcoming year
    • For transportation we originally didn't plan to ship the bars from SLAC this fiscal year, but Jerry at SLAC is retiring at the end of this calendar year, so we may need to accelerate the shipping.
  6. Task list
    • This wasn't discussed at the meeting, but this task lists should be updated to reflect the final comments/recommendations from the review report.
  7. AOB
    • We are on a bi-weekly schedule again, so the next meeting is January 29.
