Attending:Elton, John, Zisis, Shaun, Tara, Eugene, Yi, Tim (Jlab); Will, Javiera, Orlando, Hayk, Iñaki (Jlab); Christina, Stratos, George (Athens).

  1. Announcements
  2. Review of Action Items
  3. Update from Athens: monitoring
    1. Fabrication
      • Reordered components, expect 3 weeks ARO
      • Digi key small connectors are the pacing items, expect delivery Aug 20
      • Boards are in hand
      • Flexi-cable cleared today, expect delivery in about 10 days
      • First delivery of cards expected mid Sept.
    2. JLab testing
      • Summer student (Tara) has taken many runs at different LED bias voltages. Find that the range of voltages 4-6.5 V cover the ADC range. George verified that operating the LEDs at these voltages should be fine. The data are still under analysis and will be presented in a couple of weeks.
  4. Update from USM
    1. SiPM Update (Javiera)
      • 1800 MPPCs stage 1, 1600 MPPCs stage 3, 1300 MPPCs stage 2. Have measured 80 extra units in stage 2.
      • 5th delivery from Hamamatsu delayed, expected next week.
    2. Working Point Analysis (Orlando)
      • Summary of pde, gain, pde*gain and amplitude rms/mean distributions shown for several temperatures and sensors as a function of operating voltage.
      • Mix of various temperatures will be separated out in to separate plots (Orlando).
      • Understanding of how these relate to the specifications needs to be understood.
    3. Light guides (Iñaki)
      • Waiting on spare parts for machine, expected this week
      • Once in hand, the part will be exchange and recalibrated
      • Pieces on hand show dispersion on the order of 80-100 microns for D type. Dispersion is less, about 20 microns for B type. The D type guides might still meet specifications.
      • Iñaki will send JLab list of deviations for all light guides this week.
      • Tim: Suggest that a table be presented with progress at each stage.
      • Tim: What is the schedule for the first couple of light guide sets. Assuming that the machine part comes in this week, the first sets could be shipped in a couple of weeks.
  5. Status of testing at JLab
    1. Hall-D ELOG.
      • Yi is working with summer student Ben St. Laurent on analyzing the data.
      • 1050 production units tested at 15 degC. Good agreement with Hamamatsu data.
      • To date one unit that fails specs has been found.
      • Data has been taken to investigate cross talk and after pulsing at different voltages. These data should allow determination of the optimal operating point for the SiPMs.
      • Ben will present a summary in a couple of weeks.
      • Will: Is it possible to operate the SiPMs at 15 degC in the experiment. Elton: Yes, before irradiation, the dark count is acceptable.
  6. BCAL Beam Tests 2012:
  7. Status of work at Regina
    • Cosmic-rays are setup at UofR, considering reconfiguring the DAQ.
    • Cosmics have been collected at Vover=0.9V and now taking data at Vover=1.2 V.
    • Planning to add amplification to be able to measure timing resolutions with cosmics
    1. Simulations
    2. BCAL Cosmics at Regina
