#* Andrei presented an example histograms from Irina's simulation of "attenuated energy depositions" in BCal fibers for [https://halldweb1.jlab.org/wiki/images/9/94/DEcosmics-M13-C2.pdf Module #13] and [https://halldweb1.jlab.org/wiki/images/f/f4/DEcosmics-M1-C2.pdf Module #1]. In addition to the peaks (that scales as expected), one can observe the "exponent-type" structure from the muons that pass the edges of the cells; the contribution of this structure is very significant compared to the statistics in the "clean" peak, so for calibration purposes, we need to fit the peaks but not use the distorted mean values from the histograms. <font color=red>'''High statistics is needed for the calibration with cosmics, so the recommendation is to use any opportunity to increase the amount of data in the cosmics runs.'''</font>

Minutes

Attendees: Manuel, Zach, Jon, Will, Mark (JLab); Andrei (UofR); Matt (IU); Sean (NWU)

  1. Announcements
  2. Action Items
  3. FCAL HDFCAL log book
    • Manuel: Working (together with electronics people) on understanding of instabilities of pedestals (oscillation and baseline switches) for small fraction of channels
    • Matt: Wants to revive the old pi0-calibration code and make plugin. Sean confirmed that the resulting gain calibration constants can be included in the calibration database. Will and Jon will work on light monitoring system.
  4. BCAL HDBCAL log book
    • Mark and Will: Laura and Shayne produced the script to extract mean values from cosmics histograms, and found a few miscablings and wrong settings on bias. Now they work on the script for tdc analysis.
    • One of the fADC modules is replaced because of a few (6-7) channels had very high baselines. Sergei will have a look on the problems in that module.
  5. Reconstruction and Simulation
    • Andrei presented an example histograms from Irina's simulation of "attenuated energy depositions" fromm muons in BCAL fibers for Module #13 and Module #1. High statistics is needed for the calibration with cosmics, so the recommendation is to use any opportunity to increase the amount of data in the cosmics runs.
