Minutes

Data Production

  1. Thomas reports that the monitoring looks good.
  2. Alex A. reports that the low-rate data was done last Monday. Right after that, the high-rate data was started, it is at 60% after 8 days. The improved processing rate is likely due to some problems SciComp fixed with their scheduler, allowing for more efficient farm usage.
  3. Paul is working on overhauling the analysis library to prepare for an analysis launch next week. If you have a reaction or plugin that you want run, send him and Alex A. a message. Likely two launches will be done, since more complicated topologies (e.g. those with detached vertices) need more work.
  4. Sean reported that preparations are being made for calibrations in the Fall run. Beni has changed the timewalk corrections in the TOF so that they use the pulse amplitude instead of the integral. These seem to be more stable.
  5. Sean made a sim-recon branch for developments with mcsmear - this should be used for all work with data/simulation matching this summer. Mini-simulation launches will be done as well, to provide some simulated data for matching. Sean is working with Richard to run jobs on the OSG, this is almost ready.
    • Matt asked what type of simulations will be generated; Sean said that bggen is in the works, please send the number of events desired, can also generate any final state with a generator in sim-recon. Please send him any requests.
    • Also, thanks to everyone who filled out the mcsmear workplan wiki page, we have manpower aimed at almost all of the relevant studies.

Analysis Focus: Total Cross Sections, Acceptance Corrections

  1. Lubomir showed a first look at J/psi compared between 2016 and low-rate 2017 data. It looks like the luminosity of the 2017 low-rate data is ~1.6x the 2016 data. The yield of phi mesons is indeed larger, but not the J/psi yield; this is likely due to the lower electron beam energy.
  2. Thomas and Simon updated their analyses for phi -> K+K-, pi+pi-pi0, using Justin's flux numbers, and the cross sections generally agree, except at higher beam energyes.
    • Thomas is using new reconstructed data and simulation, is working on adding the correct angular distributions.
    • The overall cross sections are lower than the expected ~550 nb.
    • Both are looking at extracting d sigma / d t.
  3. Mike showed a look into the systematics affecting his measurements of omega SDMEs. He sees some differences between fit results from PARA and PERP data at low t.
    • The only thing that affects the omega->3pi results is changing the polarization fraction, otherwise stable
    • The omega->gamma pi0 results have much larger systematic effects due to cut variations, especially fiducial cuts. Note that the photons are all generally forward-going. Matt showed some plots from efficiency studies which suggest there's a potential bias due to the trigger (which is not in the simulation). Mike can't cut too hard, or he reaches a point where the efficiency is too low and he doesn't have any events.

Studies: Hit Efficiencies

  1. Elton looked at the efficiencies of individual channels as a function of layer. 2017 data seems fairly stable, while 2016 has some variations as a function of run, which are mostly understood.
    • He sees an efficiency drop due to two known bad bias boards. This mostly affects the first layer.
    • He has almost finalized some tables to match data & MC efficiencies
    • The z-dependence of efficiency in data and MC have similar systematics; a difference of ~5% is seen in layer 4.
  2. Nothing from Naomi on the CDC.
  3. Alex A. showed some plots illustrating a phi dependent effect that is seen in data and MC. This could be the source of the 30 degree modulation seen in the rho asymmetry analysis.
    • Simon is thinking about how to change the tracking code to account for this, perhaps a change in how the cell boundaries are handled?
    • Matt has a first year student working on the block-level efficiencies in the FCAL.
