Goals for Calorimetry Group

  1. Determine preliminary photon reconstruction efficiencies as a function of E, phi and theta in data and simulation with a point-to-point precision of at least 5%.
  2. Measure systematics of pi0/eta mass calibration as a function of detector position to a precision of at least 5 MeV.
  3. Demonstrate agreement of photon reconstruction efficiency and resolution between data and simulation as a function of E, phi and theta to within 5%.

Action Items

  1. Short term CALWG Items
  2. Long term items
  3. Calorimeter work packages

Minutes

Attending: Mark, Elton, Sean, Eugene, Matt, Varun, Tolga, Karthik, Malte, Jon, Susan, Zisis

  1. Announcements
    1. Zisis announced that Karthik, Curtis, Zisis and Jon are giving talks at the Canadian Association of Physicists Annual Congress today and tomorrow.
    2. Elton reported that Rory arrived with 4 CPP chambers and they have been offloaded; everything went well.
  2. Run Preparations
    1. FCAL: The FCAL is almost buttoned up after the CPP work. The back panel will installed later in the week and Mark will commence the PMT/base testing.
    2. BCAL: Activities will start in July (hot checkout list, LED pulser runs).
    3. CCAL: no report.
  3. Calibration: no report.
  4. Monitoring
    1. BCAL (offline): no report.
    2. FCAL (offline): Susan gave a brief update: RunPeriod 2019-11 Batches 1-12 are processed, and will run the macro over the root files to produce the LED eff files (that goes fast). Also, she is still looking into the low level comparison with data; no technical issues expected.
  5. Reconstruction: Elton asked about fusing the Photon Reconstruction process updates into CALWG and this was agreed upon, starting from the next meeting.
  6. Simulations: no report.
  7. Action Items: these are up to date.
  8. Any other business
    1. Thomas requested that we add new failure modes to Hydra training for the calorimeters. Mark and Zisis will invite him to our next meeting to show us what he has learned from the CDC and how we can implement such ideas to the calorimeters (e.g. in the occupancy plots).
