#*Brief Update on Photon reconstruction from data in BCAL.  Churamani showed a good collection of plots, as seen in the link above, from the 2017 data.  The peak for the eta-prime looks relatively clean, but contains perhaps 2,000 events, so 10,000 for all of GlueX.  Sean suggested that the efficiency with errors bars be calculated, so that we can judge the viability of this method. Chrumani will aim to produce this and and update in the next 2-3 weeks, so that the work can be reported to the May Collaboration meeting together with the omega and b1 analyses.

Goals for Calorimetry Group

  1. Determine preliminary photon reconstruction efficiencies as a function of E, phi and theta in data and simulation with a point-to-point precision of at least 5%.
  2. Measure systematics of pi0/eta mass calibration as a function of detector position to a precision of at least 5 MeV.
  3. Demonstrate agreement of photon reconstruction efficiency and resolution between data and simulation as a function of E, phi and theta to within 5%.

Minutes

Attending: Varun, Karthik, Sean, Mark, Jon, Susan, Churamani, Elton, Tolga, Rebecca, Malte, Chandra, Zisis

  1. Announcements
    1. Happy St. Patrick's day and happy green cash stimulus day!
  2. Run Preparations
    1. FCAL: no report
    2. BCAL: no report
  3. Calibration
    1. BCAL: Karthik reported that all 2020 files are now cached and this allows him to compete the non-linear correction (expected to be no more than 2%).
  4. Monitoring
    1. BCAL LED: no report; 2020 LED monitoring was done and reported last year.
    2. BCAL (offline): The batches are now available and Tolga will report on this work soon.
    3. FCAL (offline)
      1. RunPeriod-2019-11: Susan reported on the issue of crashes on certain 'sub runs'. This might be related to a time out. Sean clarified that even though the scripts are not multi-threaded, the EVIO code is, and it could be that a thread dies. Sean suggested that the online data can be compared to offline skims. Sean and Colin have a plugin to calibrate out the 4ns shifts, which was used on the 2018 data: after this though there was some left over jitter, which is why Susan is doing these studies.
        1. LED efficiencies working on batch 1 (somewhat hindered by tape and cache situations) and looking for LED time shifts simultaneously
        2. comparison to raw data in progress. Susan looked at the LEDs and hit patterns; a seesaw pattern is recognizable but not all dead channels are seen in data.
        3. coming up: 2020 batches 10, 11, 12 monitoring launch ver26: these batches are now in.
  5. Reconstruction
    • Brief Update on Photon reconstruction from data in BCAL. Churamani showed a good collection of plots, as seen in the link above, from the 2017 data. The peak for the eta-prime looks relatively clean, but contains perhaps 2,000 events from 2017, so 10,000 for all of GlueX-I. Sean suggested that the efficiency with errors bars be calculated, so that we can judge the viability of this method. Chrumani will aim to produce this and and update in the next 2-3 weeks, so that the work can be reported to the May Collaboration meeting together with the omega and b1 analyses.
    • Following a question by Elton on the expected statistics, Jon showed a comparison of the eta-prime, to the omega (revived his code) and the b1. Karthik will aim to produce more plots by next week, when he, Elton and Jon will meet.
