Goals for Calorimetry Group

  1. Determine preliminary photon reconstruction efficiencies as a function of E, phi and theta in data and simulation with a point-to-point precision of at least 5%.
  2. Measure systematics of pi0/eta mass calibration as a function of detector position to a precision of at least 5 MeV.
  3. Demonstrate agreement of photon resolution between data and simulation as a function of E, phi and theta to within 5%.
  4. Demonstrate agreement of photon reconstruction efficiency between data and simulation as a function of E, phi and theta to within 5%.

Minutes

Attendees: Mark, Malte Jon, Eugene, Tolga, Matt, Stjepan, Karthik, Zisis

  1. Announcements:
    • Karthik and Stjepan are at JLab for an EIC beam test and Zisis arrives on March 4 (see item 9 below).
    • GlueX-II run ends on March 19.
  2. Past Meeting Minutes: the last meeting. was on Feb 1. Operations were routine back then.
  3. Review Action Items: We discussed the CALWG Work Packages (see link above). Progress is being made on Items 2, 4, and 6, and we expect to hear reports in the next couple CALWG meetings.
  4. Run Operations
    1. FCAL/FCAL2: Malte reported on the FCAL base change rate, which is low (2 last week). Mark added that the pool of spare bases is 7, which should be enough to last us until the end of this run. Discussions are ongoing with Eugene to see if additional manpower cn be found to assist Chris Stanislav with base refurbishment. The FCAL communications alarms watchdog works, and notifies shift crews. A couple of times after carrying out the "reset procedure", not all bases came back. This does not last long, but required a couple of resets.
    2. BCAL (Varun added the two bullets below). that
      • HOSS stopped producing skimmed files, contacted David Lawrence.
      • Regarding ISEG module incident and bad channels, will check and compare before and after the incident once skimmed files are there. A report will be given in the next meeting. Mark reported that 8 channels failed at midnight and were off for 12 hours. Mark went through several ISEG modules before finding one that had all its channels operational. This "hole" in the BCAL will need to be modelled in MC. Those channels should be examined closely in the calibration phase.
  5. Calibration: Karthik and Stjepan have started discussions in connection to the 2022 PrimEx calibration request by Igal. This will be firmed up over the next week, when they and Zisis are at JLab.
  6. Monitoring:
    1. BCAL: see above bullet.
  7. Reconstruction: no report.
    1. Invariant Mass Spectra from MC sample. Churamani wants to touch base on this when he arrives at JLab, later today.
  8. Simulations: no report.
  9. Any other business
    1. EIC Mini BCAL beam tests (Zisis)
