Minutes

Attendees: Karthik, Susan, Mark, Tolga, Stjepan, Sean, Elton, Igal, Malte, Eugene, Jon, Zisis

  1. Announcements: none.
  2. Past Meeting Minutes. We reviewed these; the FCAL voltage will be discussed at out next meeting when Matt is present. We might also get an update on the FCAL timing resolution that Rebecca is working on.
  3. Shutdown tasks
    1. CPP: Elton presented a comprehensive summary on the CPP installation progress. All is going well. All MWPCs have been tested and moved from EEL to the Hall and mounted on the forward carriage. Minor issues with the supplier of the cables required (soldering vs crimping of connectors). 6 cables exists that can be used to test each chamber; with 6 chambers, 36 50-ft cables are needed (horizontal chamber connectors are at the side, vertical ones at the top). The MWPCs will use a CDC FADC (corresponding to 1/4 of the CDC). Changes from GlueX standard configuration: i) 3/4 CDC operating (with BCAL to be used to veto charged particles in CPP and to look at photons at large angles BSL from NPP); ii) the tagger microscope is being moved down to 6 GeV, which has software and monitoring implications, as well as coherent peak implications. CPP requests that the FCAL stay the same to avoid introducing any additional changes into the CPP experiment.
    2. Review Action Items: Zisis updated short, long and calorimeter work packages following our discussion two weeks ago.
  4. Run Operations: no other updates
  5. Calibration: Stjepan reported that he has started the pi0 gain calibrations for the first SRC batch (runs 90059-90200) based off the 2020 GlueX gains and the numbers look quite good. He will proceed to the next batches. We also discussed what to do for the PrimEx gain constants. Those looked very similar to the 2020 GlueX ones (a couple of channels had 2-3% deviation, all others within 1%): see BCAL Gains. Karthik reported that the 2021 PrimEx numbers are consistent with the 2019 PrimEx ones. Mark mentioned that he finished the final timing calibration for the BCAL and will move next to the attenuation length and position calibrations; those could affect the gain calibrations. We decided to wait for Mark's numbers and then invite the PrimEx people to come to our CALWG to discuss thesis. It is possible that we might want to run a monitoring launch as a final check.
  6. Monitoring
    1. BCAL (offline): no report.
    2. FCAL (offline): Susan gave a report on FCAL-LED efficiencies and timing for 2021-08 PrimeX and 2021-11 SRC/CT. Slide 2 is on PrimEx and slide 3 on SRC. Upper left plots: horizontal lines correspond to the various LED configurations (colours, voltages). Gaps in this plots may be related to entering the dark room to replace bases, according to Mark; the efficiency numbers form these should be good. This will be verified by looking at the archiver, which could have 3 variables related to this, according to Malte. Lower right plot should be used to check timing once the timing calibration (shifts) have been completed. On slide 2 upper right, there is a horizontal line at 25 on the y-axis; Susan will investigate further. On slide 3 there is a vertical line before run 90600; it might be noise, but we will wait for data monitoring.
    3. CCAL (offline): no report.
  7. Reconstruction: no report.
  8. Simulations: no report.
  9. Any other business: none.
