Procedure

Determine Smearing

  • (DONE) Generate and simulate single-track events with and without the BCAL time smearing disabled (generated at center of target: assume that this is what David did).
  • (Select, fit) Fit BCAL time uncertainties for photons and pions with and without the BCAL time smearing disabled
    • If the uncertainties are not the same as David's studies: probably due to clustering algorithm(s): ASSUME that the % of the timing uncertainty improvement is independent of this difference.
  • (Waiting on results) Fit the BCAL time resolution improvement % from the table of David's results as a function of theta (separately for photons, pions, and protons). Energy-dependence comes from the coefficients.

Physics Analysis

  • (RUNNING) Generate b1pi events (all vertex z)
  • Determine PID cuts for protons & pions (delta-beta vs p) for both smearing resolutions (for each source!)
  • Run cooking code to reconstruct events (mass cuts & values, fix pi0/X mass).
  • Perform b1pi analysis, using PID cuts (allow all hypotheses).
