Minutes of the Regina-Indiana Conference Call

Conference call minutes on the status quo of the detector and mechanics for the BCAL/Hall-B beam tests.

  1. Detector
    • Light guide: Zisis has not received replies from TRIUMF/UBC or Carleton, on the aluminum deposition for the angles side of the light guides. After discussion it was decided that the aluminization would be done using aluminized mylar (possibly multiple sheets). It was also decided to employ Si optical cookies to couple the LGs to PMTs rather than optical grease.
    • PMTs: The Regina bases for the 2-inch Burle 8575 PMTs are too large for the light guide support system. Indiana will check inventory to see if they have enough functioning bases for these PMTs and Regina will provide the PMTs. The latter have already been tested by undergraduates and set aside for gain matching with cosmics, which will be done in July at Regina.
    • Vetoes: Regina investigated this issue and all candidates todate did not fit in the gaps between the support structure.
  2. Mechanics/Stand
    • Design: Eric's May 3rd note was discussed and Regina approved the design (the following day). The intervals of support are 19.6" apart, 4" cm wide and there is 5.28" gap under the module for insertion of the vetoes.
