Revision as of 13:02, 22 April 2021

The goal is to assemble 450 - 500 modules by the end of summer.

64 CRYTUR crystals available (checked) 250 crystals produced by SICCAS, will be in the lab in February

100 PMTs are in the lab, expect to receive 400 more by April.

  • Checking crystals
Visual inspection (5 min per crystal)
Dimension measurement (10 min per crystal)
Transmission check (20 min per crystal)
Light yield (20 min per crystal)
  • PMT checking
Diameter check
Check gains (perform check on some randomly selected sample)

Module Fabrication

  • Brazing straps
Time per module - 20 min
  • ESR shaping
- ESR cutting
- Shape in the oven (2 tools exist, 20 min per cycle]
- Time per module - 20 min
  • Crystal wrapping
- Cut ESR and Tedlar
- Wrap module
- Time per module - 20 min
  • Module fabrication
- Insert mu-metal shield
- Attach PMT housing, set tension screws
- Insert PMT with silicon cookies, set tension plate
- Time per module: 30 min

Total fabrication time: 1.5 hours per module
(5 modules a day, 100 a month)
  • Preparation of silicon cookie
- Mix RTV625, remove bubbles
- Pour to the gluing fixture (36 cookies can order one more)
- Set time: 1 day, full cure time: 4 - 5 days
- Time: 3 - 4 hours to load the fixture
