Minutes
Attending: Elton, Yi, Tim, Beni (JLab); Zisis, Andrei (UofR); Will, Hayk, Ricardo, Alam (USM); Christina, George, Pavlos (Athens)
- Announcements
- Review of Action Items
- Monitoring Update (Athens)
- Progress on BCAL monitoring, test a new type of LED
- Found new LED to be used for monitoring
- Previous tests with Winston cones gave a ratio of Far/Near ~ 3.5
- New tests with trapezoidal guides measured ratio F/N ~ 4.1 - 6.4
- LEDs are non-focusing, so gluing or grease seems to increase collection.
- Zisis: There seems to be sufficient light, so propose to place LED in hole without grease but secure the board to the light guide.
- Light guides from Chile have been processed though customs and checking with boards for space requirements. Will double check the space and position of the holes.
- Christina: request that we send them more SiPM for further detailed testing. They request 4-6. Elton said that sensors may not be the problem, but we need to check on availability of electronics.
- USM Update
- Serguei and Alam have been working on installing all electronics (8 big boards, all daughter boards and connections) in the dark box.
- Initial problems with readout and noise, but initial issues addressed. Added capacitors on bias lines and changed some connectors.
- Writing data to dB with dummy data.
- Web site is ready, but waiting on approvals by university to post to external networks.
- All cards and boards installed in 32-MPPC test setup
- Extensive troubleshooting of problems such as oscillations, was completed today
- Database for MPPC tests is now viewable on web at this link: http://atlasusr.fis.utfsm.cl:8000/
- Reading and writing to the dB. Demonstrated the interface at the meeting from a local screen at USM.
- Three stages (stations) of testing and each reflected in the interface to the dB: Receiving and inspection; PDE tests on reference samples; dark box and relative testing of all units.
- Interface allows for entering information to be stored in dB, which can be used for setting bias, etc on subsequent tests. Temperatures will also be monitored.
- Will start very shortly to test with real data.
- Should have a release of software in a couple of weeks. Add Yi to the github? group for code management.
- Serguei and Alam have been working on installing all electronics (8 big boards, all daughter boards and connections) in the dark box.
- SiPM update
- Fourteen sample units have been tested in the single-test setup
- Electronic boards are under review and should be sent out soon
- Mechanical pieces are coming in
- Should have the test station operational in a couple of weeks.
- Electrical/cooling (Elton)
- Electrical boards for production prototypes are in final design and review
- Mechanical parts are out for order
- Geometry and light guides
- Order for light guides has been awarded to USM
- There is some trouble finding material with haze<1%. We can relax that requirement to <2% for these short light guides.
- Simulations
- Weekly meetings, coordinated by David Lawrence is studying the issue of granularity. Meeting notes are available or those interested.
- Other - poster photos?
- Zisis will have Dani take some high resolution photos of the final production, which could be used in PR.
