Minutes

Attendees: Elton, Dave, Beni, Yi, Alam (JLab); Will (CMU); Sean (NW); Matt (IU); Zisis, Andrei, Giovanni (UofR).

  1. Announcements
  2. Action Items
  3. Monitoring NIM paper
    • Responding to referee comments
    • Feedback incorporated from authors
    • Uploaded"final" manuscript to DocDB
    • Comments welcome, will return submission at the end of the week
  4. FCAL
    • John is keeping progress going
    • Trial fit of plexiglass panes last week
    • Getting ready for when power is available (likely next week)
    • Interlock system. Hand-made circuits with perforated boards did not meet Fernando's standards. He will replace them with printed circuit boards to improve safety and ease of maintenance.
    • JLab contract (now closed) with IU is being audited and procurement has requested some backup information. Matt is waiting for Fitri Lamm from IU research services will return from vacation.
  5. BCAL
    • Cabling is mostly complete. Missing are still connections to crates that are not installed because they are waiting for the power to be install in the racks.
    • The distribution panels (4x2 for the bias and 4x2 for the pulsing system) are not yet ready. The bias distribution is about half built. Alam designed the distribution boards for the pulsing system. The parts are in and need to be put together. Both of these should be completed over the next few weeks and ready about the time the power is available to the racks.
    • Elton: Notes that Orlando Soto (from USM) is being invited to JLab, has his visa, but due to budget woes, travel arrangements should be made soon. We are trying to push the paperwork through now.
  6. Reconstruction and Simulation
  7. TDR update
  8. Calibration of Calorimeters
    1. BCAL Calibration GlueX-doc-2361
      • Preliminary discussion of bringing the detector online
      • Elton: Data from summed outputs need to keep track of which bias are on, which can provide information on individual MPPCs.
      • Cosmics will be very useful, although the use for calibration has not been worked out.
      • Question: Should we add external counters (above/below) solenoid. How to interface to DAQ. Elton: CMU is planning on bringing a large counter, which could be shared. There is good access below the solenoid, which could select muons that penetrate through the iron. He will investigate how much room is available above the solenoid.
    2. Pi0 and Eta Statistics GlueX-doc-1702
  9. Any other business
