Items for followup from previous meeting(s)

  1. Fcal
    • Add beam hole for the ABS upstream cover. (Matt)
  2. Simulation
    • Add up-to-date geometry for plexiglass pane and TOF detector and rerun simulation to check photon reconstruction (Elton to see if Beni or Richard can add the geometry)

Tentative Agenda

Minutes

Attendees:John, Dan, Elton, Yi, Ivan, David (JLab); Will, Hayk, Francisco, Alan (USM); Christina, George (Athens); Zisis, Andrei (UofR); Matt (IU).

  1. Announcements
  2. Review of Action Items
  3. Monitoring
    1. Note from Christina: The students are occupying the university tomorrow. Today we set up the fcal measurement and were going to start tomorrow! (They will try to participate via EVO)
    2. Discussion on signal granularity to Fcal and Bcal monitoring boards. See e-mail
      • We discussed the granularity of the trigger and four signals was the consensus.
      • We discussed the granularity of the bias/power signals and groups of 500 LEDs (8 biases) was the consensus.
      • Elton agreed to circulate a concrete plan for feedback, so that something could be included into the ETC request if necessary.
    3. Update:
      • Yesterday they have reordered the Bcal control boards. Expect 2-3 week delivery, then the boards are to be populated. Expect completion by years end
      • The Fcal prototype boards are to arrive next week and will provide the first-article to JLab for testing.
  4. FCAL
    1. Cockcroft-Walton bases
      • Testing has been at a standstill awaiting repair, but it is now working again
      • All but 250 bases have been tested individually and will be checked and then powered in groups for 24 hours
      • Waiting this week for the last parts and boards from the company.
    2. Frame
      • fitting of frame is complete
      • Working on the light seal between steel construction, adding Al flanges, which are being hand fitted
      • Expect to ship the frame toward the end of the month
      • Remaining effort is directed toward the dark room enclosure. Cable labyrinth and cable runs are being reviewed. Expecting feedback from Tim
      • Expect to send subassemblies to JLab that can be easily bolted together
    3. Monitoring system
      • Dan and Manuel are completing the design for monitoring the enclosure and completing the design for the ventilation system.
    4. Contract
      • Elton is working with procurement to extend the contract and add the dark room.
      • Identifying line items (such as travel) should be added to the contract at this time.
    5. Fire suppression system is currently being worked between John L. and Jlab
  5. USM update
    1. SiPMs
      • Latest exchange with Hamamatsu is confusing. 360+10 units are still missing, but a note regarding two types of SiPMs came back from Hamamatsu. [Note: Representatives from Hamamatsu will be at JLab on Thursday and we can inquire about this at that time]
    2. Light guides
      • Production of milling is continuing on schedule at 70 units per day
      • Polishing supplies have been delayed, but are presently in Santiago in customs.
    3. Data base info on web site: Hayk will review comments by Elton and provide updates.
  6. BCAL
    • Elton will be giving a talk on the Bcal Readout to the Lehman Review at the end of the month and would like to have the latest update on the beam test.
    • Zisis and Andrei will pause work on the sampling fraction and try to get updated results from the beam test for the Lehman presentation.
  7. Simulations
    • David has been trying to fix the Bcal geometry in the simulation and has to talk to Tim to resolve some apparent inconsistencies in the drawings.
  8. TDR update
    • Christina has sent some information regarding the Bcal monitoring system to Zisis, who has included it into the TDR draft. Additional information on the Fcal monitoring system was also provided and Zisis will also add this to the TDR
  9. Calibration of Calorimeters
  10. Any other business
