- GCC 4.4

  - about 40% of C++11 working

  - most of C++11 working except thread package
- GCC 4.8
  - coming to /apps
  - includes C++11 thread package
- CLANG

  - same interface as GCC, compatible with GCC libraries
  - need to enable C++11 support
  - better error messages, scan-build analyzer, other advantages
