Electronics

Fernando gave a brief update on the status of the FADC125 and other boards:

  • Bare board ready, mezzanine design done, 15 FPGA's total.
  • Expect final cost approx $4k for 72 channel module.
  • Has 3 x 24 channel connectors.
  • Will have 3 ready by 1-Oct - one for JLab, one for CMU, one for IUCF.
  • Production testing perhaps at IUCF, not sure yet.
  • Dave A will produce readout libraries, about 6 weeks after he receives a board.
  • Expect solid board and lib by end of 2009.
  • About 70 Watts/board, similar to FADC250.
  • F1TDC v2 and FADC250 v2 planned for FY10, redesigns starting now. These are production boards for Hall D.
  • Two types of F1TDC inputs: ECL and LVDS, depending on front-end plug-in module.

Chris summarized some additional work:

  • Trigger workshop went well, see notes and summary on Wiki.
  • Got new requirements at workshop, esp for FADC250.
  • Will hold again next year.
  • Firmware changes for all boards not simple, takes planning and time. Cannot do this too often.
  • Global trigger boards planned for FY10 (GTP, TS, etc.).
  • New hires in Electronics and DAQ groups coming soon.
