Minutes

Attendees: Tolga, Malte, Sean, Jon, Elton, Varun, Churamani, Igal, Karthik, Rebecca, Zisis

  1. Announcements: none.
  2. Run Operations
    1. FCAL: Malte reported on FCAL maintenance since the last CALWG meeting: 2 bases with HV issues swapped out, 2 locked-up bases with communication issues replaced. The new rigorous checks and proactive replacements are implemented which explains the large number 7/15 bases changed. Elton asked about spares. Malte replied that there are about 30 left, but new spares could be made: cleaning, 4-resistor fix, new components, coating, 24 hr cure for coating, then 1-2 weeks in the test bed before being used in the FCAL.
    2. BCAL: no report; likely nominal or else the RC would have notified us.
    3. CCAL: Igal reported that the daily calibration is going smoothly.
  3. Calibration: Sean will look closely at the timing; likely one more monitoring launch is needed and then Mark and Karthik can take over. Sean reminded us that th 4ns/8ns shifts no longer exist with the new firmware.
  4. Monitoring
    1. BCAL LED: Investigations ongoing but no report today.
    2. BCAL (offline): Tolga gave a monitoring update, and showed standard plots (Occupancy, Recon) plus Hydra plots. The @0.999 numbers mean probability of detection by the AI/Hydra. Malte mentioned that PS lead screens had been installed on October 7 and Zisis reported that Sergey ran the pedestal baselines on October 20. Tolga will compare plots from before Oct 7, between Oct 7-20, and since Oct 20. Malte mentioned that PS lead screen were added to the other arm. It would be good to check whether the screens removed features seen in the 2D plots (e.g., vertical stripes in Occupancy plots). A few plots showed deviations of certain cellids, but Sean cautioned that the Drift Chamber calibrations are not 100% so some of these points may be red herrings. It was suggested that Tolga investigate the empty target runs in more depth to correlate this to features seen in the plots.
    3. FCAL (offline)
  5. Reconstruction: Churamani gave a brief gave an update from Spring/fall18 DATA on BCAL efficiency, using the tag-and-probe method. 2017 and 2018-spring and 2018-fall data were shown; no MC shown today, that is coming soon. The eta-prime peak looks broad and Churamani will investigate further. Dips in the efficiency appear (see slide 6). Elton suggested that Churamani use David Lawrence's scripts to show where the chamber material is and correlate it with features in the efficiency. [After the meeting, Jon provided the necessary information to Churamani.] A discussion took place on the S1 and U1 flags. Churamani will show invariant mass plots with and without the U1 flag next time, focusing on the signal to background counts and shape/
  6. Simulations: no report.
  7. Action Items: no updates.
  8. Any other business:no report.
